It’s easy to get overwhelmed by everything that’s going on in the world right now with the pandemic. So, I wanted to reassure you that things are STILL business-as-usual here at SPBC, since all of us here were already working from our home offices. You’ll still be able to reach us as usual, search for and buy book covers, put in requests for modifications, custom covers, back-cover/spines for paperbacks, and to access your previously-purchased book covers and Dashboards. We’re not going anywhere – we’re here for you!
If you find yourself on lockdown, self-isolating or under quarantine, I empathize. My whole family and I have been self-isolating because I’m in a high-risk category, and my state (Idaho) has just put a 21-day “stay at home” order into effect that closes everything down, anyway.
But did you know that many historians believe Shakespeare wrote Macbeth, King Lear, and Anthony and Cleopatra while under quarantine for the bubonic plague? Maybe we’ll be able to get some concentrated writing done while we’re all stuck at home – every cloud has a silver lining, right?
And I don’t know about you, but I’ve been reading more than usual. I bet there are a lot of other people out there who need an escape from the doom-and-gloom and are looking for a new book just to take their minds off everything. All I want to read right now, for some reason (masochism?), are apocalyptic pandemic books like Stephen King’s The Stand. I’ve watched the movie Contagion literally three times since the end of January. Sigh.
But the point is, we may all be gaining some new readers who need a good book right about now (another silver lining?).
I hope you are doing okay and staying healthy and safe. It’s definitely a weird time to be alive. Praying we can all stay home, stay healthy, and make the most of quarantine just like Shakespeare did.
All my best,
